Description

Start out at an old steel post corral at the confluence of Knoxville Creek and Eticuera Creek. The trail starts out on the left side of Eticuera Creek, then crosses the creek twice before turning north; this is Long Canyon. The trail follows the left side of the drainage and rolls through grassland as it gently climbs further up the canyon. The trail then winds past open Oaks and finally switches back to the right side of the creek before topping out on the ridge.

Take a moment to look down into the Fiske Creek drainage (another great ride) before following a primitive doubletrack up past an old stock pond and onto the north-south ridge that parallels Long Canyon. Be prepared for a grunt across an open hillside.

Finally, the fun begins as the trail is all downhill from here. Watch out for a couple fallen trees that block the trail and deep grass that likes to wrap up in your derailleur. There is one old jeep trail that folds back on itself and eventually comes out at the Knoxville site. Stay left and the trail follows the ridge back down to Eticuera Creek. After a quick run downhill the trail pops out just about a mile short of your car. Follow the trail you started on, back down to the steel post corral.
