Overview
KYMBA has done a fantastic job at creating a trail system so close to downtown Lexington. Overall, the trails are pretty smooth with very few roots. There are multiple new log rollovers, berms, and rocks that are optional for more experienced riders. None of the harder obstacles are mandatory so everyone can enjoy the trails. The trails can be ridden gingerly on a Cyclocross bike or run hard on a full suspension.
Need to Know
The trail crosses the fire access road in two locations. The trail continues straight across the clearing.
Description
Enter the park next to the tank, drive up to the top of the hill and park at one of the two shelters. The trailhead is on the left and is marked with a big map. The Green Trail leads downhill and will cross paths with a paved running path. Continue straight across the paved path until the trail forks at a junction with Blue Loop.
The easier and more fun route is to go right and follow Blue Loop in the counter clockwise direction. Follow the trail around until you come to the fire road. As soon as you cross the cleared path the trail will fork again. This time take the left path into the woods.
The trail will loop back to the Y intersection at which point you have two options. You can either stay right to head back to the parking lot on Green Trail, or turn around and run the route in reverse as it is mapped here.
