Description

This trail is often ridden as part of the Big Hollow Heartbreak Hotlap. It is good to ride both directions, but commonly ridden up in the counter clockwise direction. Big Hollow is wide, steep, relatively unobstructed and crazy fast on the descent. Near the top, thanks to a recent timber sale, you'll have a couple options to finish your climb to Hone Quarry Ridge and they will all get you to the top.

At the top, there is a 3-way intersection, Hone Quarry Ridge which leads to Mines Run continues to ascend Shenandoah Mountain to the west while Heartbreak Trail continues to the east to return you from whence you came.
