Overview

This ride starts at the Beeler Canyon Trailhead. The Beeler Canyon Trail has some nice covered sections and is well maintained. Continue on to the Ridge Trail where the view of the valley below is awesome. The North Ridgeline Trail is pretty technical. The ride on Martha's Grove Trail after coming down Cardiac Hill on your way to the grove might be the best part of this ride.

Need to Know

Beware. The singletrack trail and high brush can block your view of others on the trail. We saw 2 cyclists collide head on, nothing serious, but did prompt us all to purchase bells for our bikes.

Description

From Hwy 15, take Scripps Poway Pkwy eastbound. Take a right on Pomerado then a left on Creek Rd. Go straight as it turns into Beeler Canyon Rd. There is a turn-out 2.5 miles down for parking.

From the trailhead, it's about 1.3 miles to your first hard climb. This singletrack is about 2.6 miles along Beeler Canyon Trail up to the Ridgeline Trail fire road. Take a right at the service road and follow it until you see a drop in for North Ridgeline Trail. Take that trail down to the Sycamore parking lot/staging area.

Take the Martha's Grove Trail, which takes you to Cardiac Hill. Follow this and you'll wind through a grove. It will take you down into Sycamore Canyon Preserve. The trail ends at the service road right across from a historic windmill.

Take a right on the road and after about 0.5 miles you'll be at the ranger station. This is a good place for a snack and to take in the area. From there, head up the service road back the start of Martha's Grove. It's a tough climb back up. Once back at the staging area, just take the Ridgeline Trail (to the left) back to the way you came through Beeler Canyon.
