Description

Use this doubletrack dirt & rocky road to gain elevation above the upper Castle Creek Valley all the way up to Taylor Pass. Passenger cars can park at the informal trailhead parking area (100 yards from Castle Creek Rd.), prior to crossing the wooden bridge across the creek.

You can use this road as part of a long ride to Crested Butte via Taylor Pass Divide Road and Trail 400 (Star Pass), or circle back towards Aspen via Richmond Ridge Road.

Rocky portions of the road may cause you to hike some of the steepest portions on the way up. Expert riders will love blasting down the nearly 5 miles when riding back down to the lowest elevation of the road.

This road is open to motorized vehicles.

This depicts the singletrack route near Star Pass and Taylor Divide. It is a part of a RADtrek segment ride from Aspen/Ashcroft to Crested Butte, Colorado. This shot is a part of a larger cross-state route that combines 1500 miles of singletrack, jeep and ATV trails from Wyoming to New Mexico.

Not recommended going up hill. 95% loose sand and gravel between rocks. only do it if you're in it for the masocistic effort, lactic acid gussling… 49mi — 5h 00m
