Description

Want to ride Viper or Los Pinetos but don't want to climb up either of them? Then this is the trail for you. Although not really a trail, this fire road climbs high above the Santa Clarita Valley. Start from the Newhall Park and Ride and begin climbing the dirt road just on the west side of the parking lot. About 2 miles up you'll come to a gate, take the bypass to the right and continue climbing.

After 3.7 miles the turn off for Viper is on your left, continue for another 0.4 miles and veer left for Los Pinetos when you reach Wilson Creek Saddle. At Wilson Creek Saddle there are some bathrooms and picnic tables if you need a break.

Since this is mostly a climb all the hikers aren't a problem and there's plenty of room for everyone.
