Description

Easily the most fun, flowy piece of singletrack in the Kootenai National Forest. It's a bit off the beaten path, but definitely worth the extra effort to get there.

The singletrack down Timber Mountain is fast and smooth. It sweeps quickly through the trees. There are two major switchbacks on the trail, one of which is at the beginning. Look out for one rocky wet section that is relatively flat, but a bit technical. There is one hike-a-bike section towards the end of the trail. It's only about a 50-foot push uphill and then the trail continue back down the mountain.

The only way to access this trail is via the full Timber Mountain Loop.

The trail is in heavy bear country--there are many signs of bears along the way. Be sure to be "bear aware." It is best to ride this in a group making lots of noise.
