On-mountain riding (Tamarack area) restricted during ski operating hours (8am-4pm November through mid-April).
Overview
Another solid choice for those just getting back onto their bikes or for first-time riders. Roll on gravel grinder roads through the Quarter Mile neighborhood before shooting onto a short and fun doubletrack "thruway" between Vantage Point & the Training and Fitness Center.
Look both ways before you cross the Stratton Mountain Access Rd to pick up the bike path. The run-out under the skier bridge & past the Tamarack Pond is worth the elevation you gain on the way up Shattarack Rd. Ride past the Magic Carpet & back into the Village before your second lap ... or beverage break at Bar 802, whichever comes first!
Description
From 1st Run ski & bike shop, ride through the Village toward the flagpole circle. Jump on the Stratton Access Road to your left, passing the Chapel and parking garages. Cross the road to pick up the pedestrian path, riding a half mile toward the Golf Course.
Take a right onto Quarter Mile Rd and ride until you reach Stratton's oldest ski units (Grizzly Bear, The Wanderer) near the Black Bear Lodge. Take your first left onto East Birch, an old grassy road with boulders in the distance, serving as road blocks to vehicle traffic. Wrap around the backside of the Clif Drysdale tennis courts, turning right at the pavement.
Ride E Birch up to Stratton Access Road, crossing onto the pedestrian path in the first 50 yards...be sure to look both ways! Your first left is Shattarack Rd, take it! It's a mild climb past the Slopeside condos, but well worth it when you finally meet up with the Home Run ski trail. Ride through the bridge & past the Tamarack and Villager lifts. Heading towards the base area, turn right past the ticket sales counter, under the clock tower, and back to 1st Run.
