Overview

There are some steep drop-offs to the river below, but with waterfalls, edible wild berries, and just amazing scenery, this is a perfect beginner mountain bike ride.

Description

This trail travels past an old train trestle, over two bridges, and along segments of the historic Rio Grande Southern Railway. Much of the trail is singletrack, though the middle and southern portion now follow dirt roads.

The grade never exceeds that of a train line, so while it climbs continuously, it's never steep (though between MP 9.5 and 12.4, the line deviates from the abandoned railroad and is on sections steeper than the abandoned railroad line).

While it's good for all ability levels, it does get a little winding through some rocky bits and has a couple of sections with drops on one side.
