E Trail is a classic steep and root-laden downhill style trail. It's the core of an advanced cluster of trails on the south side of the Basin Area.

The steepness starts as soon as you drop in from the access road. Pick your way down to an intersection with F Trail over a sea of roots. Stay right and continue on, the trail grade lessens but the roots do not.

Just before the intersection with D Trail, there is a large and long boardwalk that crosses a drainage. D Trail merges here across an off-camber section of the boardwalk.

The exit drops you into a steep section with rocks and a large tree to navigate.

From here to the bottom, the route is technical with a few abrupt turns and some short boardwalks.

Stay left at the bottom to pedal back to the bottom of the Ballhooter lift and a return trip to the top of the mountain.
