Description

Generally flat singletrack in an old mining water ditch that links the BLM Swazey Recreation Area/Mule Ridge Trail - Mule Ridge Trail at the Oak Knoll Trailhead to Whiskeytown NRA - Salt Creek Loop at Mule Town Road.

The trail is well maintained with multiple bridges over the deeper creek crossings. Trail junctions include; Mule Ridge Trail, Cosmos Way, Stony Gulch TH, Mule Town Road and Salt Creek Loop.

Best done as a clockwise loop starting from Oak Knoll TH then up Salt Creek Loop trail, and back to Oak Knoll on the Mule Ridge Trail (~16 miles). Alternatively, starting at Oak Knoll TH, going counterclockwise, climb the Mule Ridge Trail to the descent on Cosmos Way and back to Oak Knoll TH on Princess Ditch Trail (~9 miles).
