One of three options to the top of Lookout Mountain. This one is shorter and less steep than the Independent Mine Trail. Near the top, it joins the Mother Lode Mine trail near a snow shelter and continues to the top of the mountain.
The trail then heads out on the exposed ridge of Lookout Mountain and descends down to the parking area by Ochoco Creek Campground.
The upper section is very rocky and steep, then slowly transitions to a faster trail below the treeline. Multiple short climbs spice things up and give time for the brakes to cool down.
Riding from bottom to top is fairly tough due to steep grades, so the best method is to do the Lookout Mountain Road Climb and take Independent Mine Trail or Lookout Mountain Trail to link up with the top.
