Description
Fixer Road is a county maintained gravel road that passes through the essentially defunct community of Fixer. At one time, Fixer was the hub of operations for the Big Sinking Oil Field and the remnants of those extraction operations are evident throughout the area.
Fixer parallels the Sheltowee Trace to the east and provides a diversion from paved riding you would encounter there or loop possibilities. It also provides an important non-paved connection between the trails in the two separate parcels of the Pendergrass-Murray Recreational Preserve (PMRP) which is owned by the Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition (RRGCC).
The Flat Holler Trail and
Sore Heel Trail are located in the southeastern parcel on Bald Rock Fork, and there is distinct potential for trails in the Coalbank Hollow parcel to the northwest. Fixer Road and
Bald Rock Fork Road connect the two areas.
