Description

This long segment includes Sections 4 through 7 of the Sheltowee. It begins just after the trail crosses I-64 at the end of Sheltowee Trace NRT: Sections 2 & 3 and follows a wooded ridge for a good distance until it is over the town of Morehead. The descent into town is via the Eagle Lake Trail which deposits you on the campus of Morehead State University.

After passing through the city (and the offices of the Sheltowee Trace Association at the Morehead Conference Center), the trail crosses US 60, winds through a neighborhood and then continues up a valley before climbing up to meet Big Limestone on top of the ridge.

This section is popular with the downtown Morehead mountain biking crowd and is incorporated into longer road/trail rides for loops and long out-and-back jaunts.
