The northwestern corner of the trail is affectionately known as Big Sandy. Starting from the Ski Trails Loop, bomb down a long, fast descent. Sand collects at the bottom, so watch your speed. After turning the corner, you're faced with a couple of short, steep climbs.

From the northwestern corner, keep your eyes open for the Battle Creek Rd Connector Trail on your right. The connector trail is a tight, twisty trail with some bermed sections. It dumps you out onto Battle Creek Road. Cross that to get to more singletrack.

Continue straight on Big Sandy to either get to the Goat trail or to get back to the top of the hill at the lookout point.
