Description

The Red Trail loops the entire Gay City State Park and borders the Meshomasic State Forest along the south and west. The trail is predominantly wide singletrack or doubletrack. However, the northernmost section of the trail tends to be a bit narrower and there is a short and steep section in the northwest corner as it leaves an old road grade and descends to the Blackledge River at the Beaver Dam bridge.

The intersecting White Trail can be used as an alternate route on the east side of the loop back to the main parking area.

Parking in the summer is at the White Trail trailhead. Winter parking is closer to Highway 85 near the Red Trail trailhead.
