Description

The Escalator connects Meiner's Loop Trail to Mule Mountain Pass and the rest of the Swasey Recreation Area trails. Starting from the junction with the Meiners Loop Trail at Olney Creek the trail climbs west with only a few steep sections. Multiple switchbacks and a generally mild grade make this a great trail for climbing although reversing the direction is very flowy and fun. The trail ends at Mule Mountain Pass where you can continue west down the Salt Creek Loop Trail into Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, take the Mule Mountain Loop Trail or descend The Terminator/ Mule Mountain Trail which will take you back to Meiners Loop Trailhead and Wintu Trailhead Parking areas.
