Description

The trail begins at Upper Wapiti trailhead in the Taylor Fork drainage south of Big Sky. It's the obvious, wide, ATV "road" headed up steeply at times through sage meadows for several miles before reaching a more rolling climb on the ridge, where views and trail conditions are more enjoyable. This used to be the common up route for several rides in the area, but due to erosion, the forest service rebuilt the first portion of the trail which will take more traffic to harden and smooth the trail, and make it a more viable option for mountain bike riders again.

Once on the ridge, continue to Little Wapiti Trail #74 or Minnie Wapiti Trail #203 near Pika point for a great singletrack descent. Views here are excellent in all directions, and while the trail remains doubletrack, with areas of erosion, motorized traffic is generally light, and the multi-use culture is amicable, making for a pleasant ride.
