This is a great trail to start developing handling skills in timid riders and kids with a wide (~24") trail cut and easy obstacles.

The trail starts just East of the cattle guard at the entrance to the Penitente Canyon Recreation Area. For a great out-and-back warm up, ride the trail South to North ending at the connection with the Iglesia de San Juan trail (confidence marker #1). Continuing up Iglesia de San Juan will offer increasing difficulty in terrain and obstacles and eventually connect with the Blue Sky Loop. This is a great showcase of what the rest of the Penitente trail network has to offer.
