Overview

The main feature of this loop is a thrilling downhill from the upper portion of Micajah to Wilkie. The Micajah portion of the downhill is fast and flowy. Things get technical after you turn on to Wilkie and navigate some rocky portions of the trail. Once through the rock garden you're back in to fast and flowy all the way to the end.

Description

This shorter loop makes for a great warm up before heading across Cascade Lake Road to link up with the other great trails at DuPont. This especially pairs well with the Featured Ride: The Best of Dupont: Burnt Mtn. / Cedar Rock Big Rock Figure-Eight.

Park at the Corn Mill Shoals parking area. Take a left out of the lot and follow Cascade Lake Road until you reach Rock Quarry Road (doubletrack) on your left. Climb on Rock Quarry Road. About 1/3 of your way up Rock Quarry Road there will be an intersection with Micajah on your left, do not take this. Instead continue on Rock Quarry Road until it intersects with Buck Ridge Road (doubletrack) on your left near the top of a hill. Continue your climb on Buck Ridge Road until it intersects with Micajah on your left.

This upper portion of Micajah starts out your descent with fast and flowy singletrack. Enjoy the ride down until the trail makes a sharp left-hand turn. Shortly after this will be an intersection with Wilkie on your right. Take this and continue your singletrack descent. There are some technical rocky sections on the upper portion of Wilkie that will keep you on your toes. Once through the rocky portions you're back in to fast and flowy with some bermed corners. Enjoy this fast final section of the downhill until the trail spits you out on to Cascade Lake Road. Take a left for a very short ride back to the Corn Mill Shoals parking area.
