Overview
This ride takes a tour of the awesome new trails along Lake Shelbyville. Enjoy smooth, rolling trails with scenic views of the lake and old forests along the shore.
Description
Parking is located at the north end of Forest Park. Follow the north loop of the gravel trail to the switchback leading down to the creek crossing. The singletrack trails start at the picnic table there. Maps are posted or you can use the
MTB Project mobile app to navigate.
Start out on the
Ag Pass trail which features nice, rolling hills with scenic views of the forest and creek.
Ag Pass is a great out and back on its own with gentle, rolling hills and a well-maintained surface.
From
Ag Pass, continue onto the
Boulder Loop. The
Boulder Loop is a fast, carving singletrack loop with a great scenic overlook of Lake Shelbyville. Starting off of
Ag Pass, the start of the loop winds along the shore of Ninth Street Cove with great views of Lake Shelbyville. The trail has some gradual ups and downs but nothing too challenging.
You then connect to
Split Rock Loop trail on the north side. The
Split Rock Loop starts and ends on the northwest corner of
Boulder Loop and makes for a scenic tour of the old growth forest that grows along the shores of Lake Shelbyville. There is one creek crossing and a single steep hill, but otherwise it is mostly upland forest riding, with a nice rest stop view of Club Cove about halfway through the loop.
Spilt Rock Loop connects back to
Boulder Loop and then
Ag Pass so you can loop back to your starting point to finish out your ride.
