Following the Denio Creek Trail by crossing the next creek and staying right at the next intersection where the sandy trail drops into the wide paved like creek bed.
Call after rain.
Description
Starting from the main trailhead crossing the river, pick up on the Cedar Break Outer Loop. After following this sandy trail for a short bit you'll see a marker indicating the Cedar Break Outer Loop to the right. Denio Creek continues forward, crossing a second smaller creek either by hiking down some rock steps ahead, or turning sharply left going down some landscaped dirt drops. When the trail picks up on the other side, continue forward where the trail will Y at a marker. At this intersection stay to the right and follow the sandy trail until it spills out into the wide paved-like limestone creek bed.
You'll continue in and out of creek bed and sandy singletrack ending up at an area where the limestone creek bed forms a small pool. The trail splits into 2 directions at this point. Up and to the right or forward up the creek bed till you see the dirt singletrack. Continuing forward across the creek bed to the dirt singletrack to the left, the trail eventually T's into the Cedar Break Outer Loop. If you follow the marker to the right you'll begin a fairly long challenging climb up rocky / ledgy singletrack. This climb will take you up to the top of one of the highest hills depending on the direction you take as there are a few options once you get up there.
Once at the top the trail meanders along relatively flat dirt doubletrack and some embedded rock until once again hitting some small downhills littered with rock and roots ending into the
Buckeye Trail.
Also depending on the route you put together, this can be a super fun long downhill. High speeds with loose rocks / baby heads and ledges makes it exhilarating and challenging!
