Path #401: Varone - Tenno - Calvola

The described direction is uphill, so there are a few steps and some steeper parts. You might have to hike your bike in some sections.

Start directly at the Cascata di Varone, some meters right of the cash point. Take a footpath leading diagonally upward in the olive groves. After 150m, you'll reach a small asphalt road. Stay on this road, and then take the next (smaller) road on the left.

After another switchback to the right, take Path #401 (the old way) on the left-hand side - it will be a paved pebble stone path. At the end of this section, there is one steeper part with some steps. You'll reach the first houses near the old castle. Cross the street Riva -Tenno (SS 241) diagonally and ride on narrow lanes into old Tenno (elev. 430m).

At the upper end of Tenno, near a U-turn of SS 241, Path 401 continues, again on old pebble stone. This part is not so steep like the first part, but you'll have to keep your momentum going to ride this climb of 200m to the old houses of Calvola (elev.642m). There you'll find drinking water.

It's also a nice downhill if ridden the other directions with an intermediate descent and one short difficult, steep part. If possible, be sure to stop and take a look at the view back to Tenno and Lago di Garda behind you or to the gardens and flowers beside you.
