Description

This trail is often ridden as a loop, in either direction, by connecting with the Seaborg Trail (formerly Homestead Valley Trail). Most of the "trail" is a fire road that circles the Bear Creek watershed along the ridge tops. As a fire road, not a "trail", it often rises and falls too steeply to be comfortable for bikers, hikers or even horses especially after it rains. The views are great and a good excuse to stop and catch your breath at the top of peaks. Several trails, such as Old Briones Road Trail, branch off to shorten the loop.

The view towards Delta. Briones could be a crown jewel of East Bay parks but lacks a people-friendly trail system.
