Description
A challenging climb or a fun, twisty, fast, rocky, descent. If you have ever ridden the
Roan Cliff Chaos, this is the start of the singletrack after coming off the gravel road. This trail can be tricky to find. From the BLM parking lot, ride the singletrack that parallels the road going northeast. The singletrack eventually spits you out onto the gravel road itself for a short bit. Climb moderately steep and gravelly road until you reach the top. Now look left for singletrack trail that appears a bit washed out. Congratulations, you have found Lower
Faceplant!
Climb Lower
Faceplant until you reach the top of the mesa. Along the way, you'll encounter some cupped singletrack, rocky terrain, and 3 very technical features to ride over. The first feature used to be way easier but moto traffic and erosion have made it much more difficult to clean. The second feature rolls pretty easily. The 3rd is very difficult. Use the line on the right side for the win! The rest of the climb is pretty mellow.
Lower
Faceplant ends at a confusing 3-way intersection. Go left to climb
Faceplant, straight to continue on to the
Roan Cliff Chaos course, and right to bail out to the road.
