Overview
A mix of pavement, gravel, sand, and sweet singletrack with forest and manzanita. Plenty of climbing makes this a physical challenge for any rider.
Need to Know
Some elements of the course are not available until Sea Otter. Turn by turn instructions will be posted on the Sea Otter site one week before the race. Also, keep in mind that the course may change at the last minute due to race day conditions. Visit the
website for more information.
Description
This years course starts out on the Laguna Seca Raceway, heads out onto Barloy Canyon road for a little and then up to the top of Lookout
Ridge Road.
As usual the course takes you down Lookout
Ridge Road but for the Cat 1 riders this year you get a tour of the northern part of Fort Ord and will be riding trails through Coast Live Oak, back around the north boundary of Fort Ord and around to a tough sandy (hike-a-bike) climb up
Trail 22.
Youll drop down the beach, climb 82, do the full 49, climb up 42 (Red Rock) and then head out into the 70s. Youll drop down the Fern Trail (technically Trail 38) and then up 36 to Jacks Road and then up Upper Goat (Trail 41), drop down Ewok (Trail 43) to start your climb back to Laguna Seca via the grind (Pilarcitos Canyon Road).
Of course, just when you think youre done climbing, youll get diverted on
Skyline Road for a bonus loop to drop down into Coach Canyon on Trail 47 and do the final climb out to Laguna Seca.
