Description
This trail is a continuation from
Golden Orb and
Black Forest. There is well constructed sign showing the transition of named sections which starts with a hard left followed by large wide flat rock. Many on 26" take it wide and try to angle back across the face of rock but watch for slip out. Others on larger tires (27.5" & 29") take the turn tight and shoot for V at the dirt to rock interface. Rain makes for bigger challenge either way.
The trail then continues on with many mild rollers with large rocks positioned throughout as obstacles to avoid. There is nothing way over the top here as the trail is more than wide enough to navigate. Many of the quick ups contain tree roots that require lots of momentum to carry them. If you have a dropper post, this is the ideal section to use it as you are up/down probably 10+ times.
About 3/4 the way along this trail section is flat rock garden about 25' long with a couple small (8" or so) taller rocks in middle. It is completely rideable with a little momentum, weight on rear tire, and a few strategic leg pumps. Watch out though as many on trail seem overwhelmed and stop on/in/after it thus blocking the path sometimes.
The end of this section continues seamlessly into next section called
Martian which, like other sections, is well labeled
