Description

A wide, fairly smooth fire road that holds up well after wet weather. From the southern trailhead, the trail starts with a steady climb, which is characteristic of most of the trail. The Canyon Trail, a short and steep trail which is part of the Redwood Regional Park - "Official Bike Trail" loop, joins from the south.

Some of the climbs are steep but generally short. The hill climbs become more gradual as the trail progresses to the north, and the trail will seem like a four-lane freeway as it approaches the heavily-used trailhead at the north end.

The trail is a good out-and-back for a quick workout starting from either end, especially when other trails are too muddy. There are several hill-top viewpoints with rest benches.
