Description

This road heads north into Rangataua Forest and gives access to the main trails, including East Track, Middle Track, West Track and North Track. The road is gravel and has many pot holes. 4WD or a car with good clearance is suggested. If you ride up the road, it's a lot more fun riding back down. The northern end of this road is not maintained and gradually disappears into the forest.

The mighty Mt Ruapehu is the reason Rangataua Forest slopes from north to south.

The surface might not be too flash but the scenery is pretty awesome.
