Family Friendly
The campground is awesome, and there are trails suitable for all abilities. The 24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest is a great event for families.
The course and trails are not rideable from about November through April most years.
Overview
This is the course for the 2016 24 Hours in the Enchanted Forest. It is an awesome tour of some the best singletrack riding in the Zuni Mountains. It has fast, fun descents as well as some fun rocky sections to keep things interesting. It is not overly technical, but it will put a smile on your face. The course is almost entirely singletrack with only one section of road through the campground. It flows though aspens and pines in an overall great place to ride.
Need to Know
The course is always well marked for the race, but there are lots of places to make wrong turns. So use your GPS or the
MTB Project mobile app.
Description
Starting at McGaffey Campground, take the singletrack trail out toward NM400. Hang a left on the singletrack that follows the fence line through the ditch and along the perimeter of the fence. Take this trail all the way to
Y2K Trail, crossing the dirt road.
Take a right on
Y2K Trail and follow it down to
Quaking Aspen Trail. Go left on
Quaking Aspen Trail and take it all the way to Sheet Rock Tank where you go straight and continue climbing on
Lost Lake Rim Trail for about half a mile.
At the next intersection, go straight on
Plush Trail. Stay on
Plush Trail for several miles as it descends a really fun wash to
Torreon Trail. Go right on
Torreon Trail trail and continue the fun all the way to the dirt road. Cross the cattle guard and through the field, and you are back at the Mcgaffey Campground.
History & Background
