Description

Star Gap Ridge is a popular but unofficial trail in the Red River Gorge. It provides access to some great overlooks and views while testing your singletrack abilities. There are lots of great side trips. Some are rideable and some are just good side hikes.

On a historic note, this trail was once a vehicular road through a private campground before the US Forest Service purchased the land. For the most part, the left side of the trail on the way out is private land (but inaccessible from below) and the right side is National Forest though the ridge is cutoff from the valleys below by high cliffs.
