Overview
Stunning Western landscapes, narrow singletrack, and a riot of springtime wildflowers make the Greenhorn Gulch trails a sure-fire destination for eMTB'ing. Located just south of fabled Sun Valley, Idaho, the majority of the trails in the network are open to eMTBs, allowing for multiple loops that vary from 30 minutes to all day.
Description
The Greenhorn Gulch Adventure highlights a backcountry feel that can be easily accessed within just minutes of the trailhead.
Start the route by climbing on
Cow Creek Trail from the trailhead. The route twists westward into the hilly rock-strewn grasslands and ghostly fire-scorched forests. Stay right at
Mahoney Ridge Trail, descending all the way to a three-way intersection with Mahoney Butte Trail and
Lodgepole Gulch.
Stay right again and starting the second climb of the route. This section tops out at the
Mahoney - Lodgepole Connector. Go left here as the route turns downhill again. Stay left at Mahoney Butte Trail while enjoying a long descent back towards the trailhead.
Turn right on Greenhorn Trail to begin the last sustained climb of the day. You'll be traversing the south side of Mahoney Butte, working towards the top end of the
Imperial Gulch Trail.
Stay left on
Imperial Gulch Trail to finish the route with a long, grin-inducing descent through aspen groves with stunning views to the east.
