It is a short ride with nice views.
Overview
This short and fast ride consists of a challenging climb up a fire road to the top of the mountain where an FM broadcast station sits. At the top, you can see for miles in each direction with awesome views of the entire city and of the mountains in the distance. The ride back down is a fast, narrow path the rejoins the initial starting route, making for a lollipop out-and-back.
Need to Know
There are other trails that branch off of the fire road or the downhill section, but most of them are too sandy to ride on. There are few people that ride dirt bikes through those trails, so keep an eye out for any riders. Out here in the desert, it is legal to shoot targets a short distance from the road in a safe direction.
Description
The climb gets steep towards the top of the mountain for approximately 300 meters and is a good challenge. The climb itself takes about 30 min. The top of the trail is right next to the broadcast station on the peak of the mountain. Right at the top, there is a cliff that you can walk to the edge of. From here, there is a breathtaking view.
Head back down the fire road and stay to the right to switch over to the narrow path. This is a very fast section where you can get a lot of speed. It is all hard packed with some rocks making it loose. The fast, sweeping turns and natural jumps make this section really fun. At the end of the downhill part, it hits a sandier section that you have to pedal through and then it takes you back to the main fire road and back to the start point.
