Spring/fall rains do pose a concern on this trail as you are riding in and along a creek bed when you are at the bottom of Wildcat Canyon.

Description

Wildcat Canyon Trail is a singletrack trail that connects Joe Johnston with Sendero Balcones and Far Reaches Trail in the Backcountry of GCSNA.

The trail begins as advanced-beginner singletrack as you descend into Wildcat Canyon. Upon reaching the base of the canyon, you are then presented with a climb out of the canyon via a three quarter of a mile ascent along a heavily rocky singletrack and rock escarpment.

The second half of this trail is very challenging if you begin on Joe Johnston. However, if you start at the other side by Sendero Balcones and Far Reaches Trail, you are descending along the escarpment and climbing the smoother singletrack. Either way makes for a rather technical ride.
