Description
Canaan Loop Road (FS13) as mapped here starts out paved and passes through Blackwater Falls State Park. As it passes the Lindy Point trailhead, it becomes a rough jeep track for several miles.
Relative to the type of riding in this area, these sections are moderate, but there are stream crossings and the road can be muddy with large puddles and there are a few rocky bits in short stretches. As it continues, it becomes a well-maintained dirt/limestone-covered road that climbs up to the Plantation and Table Rock trailheads, then descends to run alongside Red Run for a bit where it starts climbing, at times steeply, until it terminates at a junction with Highway WV32.
The loop road sees limited car traffic, it provides important access to singletrack trailheads, and it is a very nice ride in either direction with the aforementioned challenges at one end.
