Description
This is a fun trail with some challenging features...mainly erosion and timbers that aim to eliminate erosion! I think the best way to ride it is to find your way to the top and pick a trail.
If you start from the mapped starting point, it's pretty tame for a bit, with a couple of nice views of Salina to the west and then there's a washed out section.
From there, it's not bad until you reach the bottom and there's a small climb up to Indian Rock where there are some go-arounds on the bad, washed-out areas. The rest of the loop takes you to the pavement where you can ride back up to the top and back down again.
The second time, you could practice riding stairs as there's an 8-12" drop every six feet for the whole way...or you could be awesome and ride up it...I didn't try that. :D
There is a great overlook of Bill Burke Sports complex that is accessible by bike, but it's marked "no bikes" so please respect the city's restrictions.
The trail also hooks up with the levee system to the
Salina Levee Trail, South,
Salina Levee Trail, North, and the
Salina Connector which take you out to Ohio Street.
