Description
Note: The trail name has been changed to the original name given by the local builder. Forest Service maps will sometimes refer to this trail as "Henry Recen" and the trail number is 9042. The original name "East meets West" is fitting as this trail has a distinctly east coast feel. Enjoy!
The trail starts off as an easy flume trail from Iron Springs Road. Shortly, heading west, you'll see the intersection with
Ho Chi Minh Trail (Gifford Pinchot Trail #9155) on your left. The trail contours beneath Ophir Mountain in Frisco. After about 0.25 miles, the trail crosses a wider path that heads down to the right (NE) toward the hospital. Cross this trail (un-named as far as I know) and pick up East meets West again to your left. From this point on, the trail becomes significantly more difficult.
Continue on the trail looking for a more pronounced drop off to the right. There are some enjoyable wooden features and a few rocky bits before you turn a hard right down a steep, but wide, section that heads down to the north, northeast.
After a short, loose downhill, the trail flattens out and ends at the intersection with
Miner's Creek Road.
