This switchback trail begins where three trails come together. The three trails being Eucalyptus Ridge Trail, Bowtie Rim Trail, and Switchback Trail.

The trailhead is atop the Del Mar Mesa Preserve and begins with a short distance of flat singletrack. The first turn takes you west on a downward, north-facing slope.

The entire trail is narrow, except for the switchbacks. This trail meanders from east to west through tall brush and scrub finishing at the bottom of Santa Monica Ridge. Some of the switchback turns can be very tricky to navigate as they are off camber and/or rutted due to individuals skidding into the turns and down the slope.
