Description

At mile five on the Barr Trail, the Manitou Reservoir Trail turns northward and loops eastward towards the Heizer Trail and French Creek Trail #703.

The first half mile is a steep descent through deeply rutted singletrack full of Pike's granite gravel. The trail then crosses South Fork French Creek and climbs a little over the ridge.

The trail descends, winding in and out of several canyons, crossing smaller streams. The singletrack is fast and flowing. It is better maintained than other trails in the area, and free of large downed trees for the most part.

There are no views of the Reservoir, unfortunately, and the Water Department has placed barrier signs to discourage approaching the reservoir.

The trail meets the Heizer Trail and French Creek Trail #703 at mile 3.7.

Lots of trees across trail. Trail completely overgrown after the first 1/2 mile descent at the creek. No bridge at creek. Ankle deep water.
