Access to the Lake Carl Blackwell area is fee based: $5 daily or $50 annually.
Overview
An entertaining 4.7 mile loop on the
Original Loop Trail and
Dual Slalom Course takes riders on a tour of the first mountain bike specific trails at Lake Carl Blackwell Recreation Area.
From Stillwater, head west on Highway 51 for eight miles to the Lake Carl Blackwell entrance. After paying the entry fee at the booth, park at the Fox Run Campground Parking Area.
Need to Know
The park contains over 60 miles of horse trails and the mountain bike trails cross active horse trails in several locations. They are well marked, but please use caution.
Description
The ride begins to the south of the parking area. Simply look for two signs letting equestrian riders know to stay off the trail.
This leads riders onto the
Original Loop Trail for over four miles of rolling flow sections, tough off camber climbs, and rapid descents. Next up, race the clock or challenge a friend to the bumps, berms, and turns of Oklahoma's FIRST
Dual Slalom Course. At the bottom of the course, simply follow the
Dual Slalom Exit trail back to the parking area or head back in for another lap.
