Overview

The Pachaug State Forest Loop is a scenic tour of the Mount Misery area.

Need to Know

Camping is available for $14 (residents) and $24 (non-residents).

Description

Ride southwest into the forest from the trailhead towards Sawmill Pond. At the intersection with Fire Tower Rd, take a hard right to continue on the Pachaug Multi-Use Trail, now heading northwest through dense trees.

Stay on a fairly straight trajectory until Trail 2 Rd. Take a right here and then pedal a short section to a left turn on Lee Rd.

Look for the red blazes and then turn right to jump back onto the Pachaug Multi-Use Trail for more forest riding with roots and rocks popping up occasionally. Follow the winding trail for a good stretch to Hell Hollow Rd, the turnaround point.

Now it's time to turn around and see the trail from a different perspective. Retrace your steps back to Lee Rd. Go left and then left again at the intersection with Trail 2 Rd. Now heading east, you'll bear right on Cutoff Rd. Pedal on the easy dirt road to Trail 1 Rd.

Turn right here for the last section back to the beginning of the ride.
