Overview
This featured ride tours three trails at Cub Creek Park. It crosses several nice bridges including one very memorable one on the
Suspension Bridge Connector Trail. The trails are mostly smooth and have little elevation change. Most of the turns are bermed, a trademark of the nearby trails at W. Kerr Scott Reservoir.
Description
Beginning at the parking area on S. Bridge Street, follow the
West Walking Track and find a small bridge and short
Connector Trail that takes you to the
Call Farm Loop. The bridge and connector trail are directly across from the community garden.
At the intersection with the
Call Farm Loop, stay left and follow the flat section along the creek. When arriving at the
Suspension Bridge Connector, stay RIGHT, continuing on the loop, and ride the whole loop back to this spot (2.7 miles). When you return, take a left over the bridge and do a full clockwise loop of the Courthouse Loop.
This short 0.6-mi. trail is still on easy grades trail, but it does go through some rocker sections with a few tighter turns. After completing the loop and repeating the lower section, hop out of the woods and take follow the
West Walking Track to a bridge near the ballfields and where the ride began. Cross the bridge, cross S. Bridge Street and take a right on another bridge over the creek to access
Perkins Place Loop.
The Perkins Place is 1.8 miles, and "tight & twisty" compared to the
Call Farm Loop, with bigger berms and many more turns. Comparable trail:
Zack's Fork Mountain Bike Trail in Lenoir, NC. This featured ride follows a CCW loop on this section, taking a right at the first intersection. When finishing Call Farm, backtrack across S, Bridge St. to where the ride started.
