Overview

This is the extended version of the Intro to Golden Open Space featured ride. It seems some of these southern trails have been added recently.

Description

You'll start this ride by dropping into the wash before you climb the side of a drainage to the top of some mesas on the south. From there, you can do a variety of ~one-mile loops. It's mostly flat terrain meandering through meadows and out around the edges of the mesas. Good miles, but nothing technical, and not sandy like down in the washes.

Most of the system is green/blue. There are a couple minor little ledgy things and tight, sandy corners where you can do funny things in slow motion if you're not careful. It looks like it gets a lot of horse traffic.

I just parked and took every left turn I could and believe I ended up riding everything there (~11 miles). This loop could definitely be ridden the other direction (take right turns everywhere) though, and be just as much fun.

Was guiding my 13yr old on his first MTB ride, and he did great on a full-rigid ancient rig! Didn't go all the way down, but had fun! 8mi — 1h 30m

1st time out here? Make time for getting lost as there is absolutely no signage on southern mesa. 11mi
