The name of this trail is derived from the large compound that you can see in front of you as you head down the trail after the second turn. It is the Centro Pilota Sperimental per l'Ovinicoltura, which in English roughly translates to Experimental Sheep Farm.
This doubletrack takes you from the parking lot for the ruins of the Rocca Calascio medieval castle to the provincial road SP7. It forms part of the Campo Imperatore (The Emperor's Field) loop. It's rather unremarkable, although there are some steep downhill segments towards the end.
About 0.4 mile from the parking lot, you'll need to veer to the doubletrack on the right to stay on this trail. About one mile from the parking lot, the main doubletrack makes a hairpin turn. There is a fainter doubletrack that descends sharply which continues straight through this hairpin turn, and this is the one that you want.
