This trail starts above Wamberg on an unnamed forest road (at the end of the Schloss Elmau segment). It is a narrow and very steep downhill into Wamberg (700 ft/mi), but aside from the grade it is not difficult.

Before you reach Wamberg, the forest opens and there is an excellent view of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Just before the halfway point, you reach the quaint village of Wamberg, which is the highest city in Germany. Then you have an even steeper (800 ft/mi), but also still rideable descent into Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
