Overview

There aren't a lot of places to ride in Green Valley, but this section of former state land is fun with some good trails. As an added bonus, there are great views of the Santa Rita mountains to the southeast.

Description

Starting at the trailhead near the Performing Arts Center on Continental Road, you can ride north on singletrack around a desert area at the base of the Pima and Duval Mines. The property was purchased from state lands by Freeport-McMoran but you can obtain a FREE permit to ride. Maps are also available.

The trails are mostly level with little elevation gain, but the trail builders put in lots of loops and turns, especially on the north section, that are fun. OK Corral is at the center of things and several trails go out from there. We avoid roads and there are some in this area, particularly around the perimeter, but there is some good singletrack in the center.

Overall, this loop is great for beginners.

Easy, but fun. Need to look at the map a lot. So have your phone handy.
