Night riding in winter only. Waivers required. This trail connects with the St Luke's Hospital Dialysis Center parking lot -- do not park there!
Description
This is one of the main trails through the park, running east-west with several connections and stacked loops coming off it. The trail has many short climbs and descents, and can be rocky in places, but it's not as physically demanding as some others in the park -- especially
Upper Orange and
Lower Orange, which are used to bypass the more mellow eastern section.
The trail can be ridden in either direction, but is easier and more fun heading east to west. Heading west, the trail climbs a bit, then levels out, passing over several small log-overs and the connections to the Orange and Dodson trails, before descending again, in a straight line and over a larger log-over.
After this, comes a series of small, rocky climbs before the final, mostly downhill section with several tight turns, including a few berms. Stay right at the intersection with
John's Switchback to continue on the trail, and you'll eventually cross a small stream, then wind around and climb a bit before dropping down to the end on Constitution Drive.
You can use Constitution as your return, or cross the street, enter the small unpaved parking lot, and continue on
Lower Spanky from there.
