This is an informal and unmarked, yet legal, trail within Michaux State Forest. This trail, and others that are nearby, are currently under assessment by the land manager toward a more static and stewarded trail system. Cutting a new trail or re-routing is considered illegal. As such, do not cut new trails without approval, observe potential future trail closings and official re-routing, and minimize your impact while riding. Avoid riding during PA hunting seasons.
Description
The trail begins off of Cold Springs Road and circles a knob via relatively obstacle-free, easy/intermediate trail. However, after rounding the knob, the terrain changes very quickly to double black diamond terrain. There are many boulders, drops, step-ups, rock gardens, and knife edges to clear. There are also many connector trails and alternate routes for true downhill, enduro, and aggressive cross-country rides. It is easy to get off track, so pay attention.
The trail is rated as a double black diamond because of steep grades and large obstacles. The southern end of this trail is located off of a doubletrack, Mountain Creek Road.
