Description
This is another gem in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug area (and one of my favorite loops). It has it all: flowy downhils, flow track jumps, built-up berms and a variety of shorter and "longer" (by Dutch standards) climbs. On top of that, basically everything is singletrack! Well, maybe apart from a few doubletrack climbs, but the opportunity to chat with your riding partner makes up for it.
Even though the route is actually fairly close to civilization and has several entry or exit points, it feels like you're way out there in the woods. It also rarely intersects other trails or roads (be careful when it does) which makes it a wonderful ride. One that you can push yourself on, too, as you travel through a nice mix of dense forest, heather fields, and some open woods.
Leersum can easily be combined with the
Amerongen Trail, the
Hoge Ginkel Amerongen/Leersum and/or some of the other trails in the Utrechtse Heuvelrug trail system. All of these trails have awesome maintenance to ensure that they are always in great condition.
The trail is well signposted with international MTB signs. You really can't lose the trail once you are on it.
