Overview

Douthat State Park was named one of the nation’s 10 best by Outside Family Vacation Guide. It is one of the original six Virginia State Parks. Nestled in Virginia’s Alleghany Highlands, Douthat features some of Virginia’s most outstanding scenery and trails.

If you plan to stay overnight, there are several campsite options as well as cabins built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Description

Beards Mountain Loop is a loop route that takes you from the lake to the ridgeline and back. The full loop utilizes the following trails: Beards Gap Trail, Mountain Top trail, Mountain Side Trail, Buck Hollow Trail, and Wilson Creek Trail.
When you're done with your ride, take a cool dip in the lake, relax on the sandy beach, and grab a bite to eat at the restaurant.
